Art has an interest in 4th May so may be interested that Alice Spenser, wife of 4th Earl of Derby was born on this day in 1559.

I'm currently staying three miles from Harefield waiting for Russia to reopen her borders so I am off there now to read Arcades which Milton wrote for her 75th birthday.

<<Anti-Bullying Day is a day when people wear a pink shirt to symbolise a stand against bullying. It originated in Canada, and is now celebrated on various dates around the world. In 2012, the United Nations declared the official day to be May 4.>>

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pussy_Riot

<<Pussy Riot is a Russian feminist protest punk rock and performance art group based in Moscow. The group staged unauthorized provocative guerrilla performances in public places, performances that were filmed as music videos and posted on the Internet. The group's lyrical themes included feminism, LGBT rights, opposition to Russian President Vladimir Putin and his policies, and Putin's links to the leadership of the Russian Orthodox Church.

In February 2014, a statement was made anonymously on behalf of some Pussy Riot members that both Alyokhina and Tolokonnikova were no longer members. However, both were among the group that performed as Pussy Riot during the Winter Olympics in Sochi, where group members were attacked with whips and pepper spray by Cossacks who were employed as security guards. On March 6, 2014, Tolokonnikova and Alyokhina were assaulted and sprayed with green dye by local youths in Nizhny Novgorod.

Speaking as much to western European and North American audiences as to Russian audiences, in 2016 Pussy Riot anticipated Donald Trump's victory two weeks before the outcome of the 2016 United States presidential election was declared and released "Make America Great Again", depicting a dystopian world where President Trump enforces his values through beatings, shaming, and branding by stormtroopers. In describing the video, Rolling Stone magazine noted that "jaunty, carefree music contrasts with the brutal events depicted on screen.">>

<<Alexei Anatolievich Navalny (Russian: Алексей Анатольевич Навальный]; born 4 June 1976) is a Russian opposition leader, lawyer, and anti-corruption activist. He came to international prominence by organizing anti-government demonstrations and running for office to advocate reforms against corruption in Russia, and against President Vladimir Putin and his government. Navalny has been described as "the man Vladimir Putin fears most" by The Wall Street Journal. Putin avoids directly referring to Navalny by name. Navalny was a Russian Opposition Coordination Council member. He is the leader of the Russia of the Future party and the founder of the Anti-Corruption Foundation (FBK).

Navalny has more than six million YouTube subscribers and more than two million Twitter followers. Through these channels, he publishes material about corruption in Russia, organizes political demonstrations and promotes his campaigns. In a 2011 radio interview, he described Russia's ruling party, United Russia, as a "party of crooks and thieves", which became a popular epithet. Navalny and the FBK have published investigations detailing alleged corruption by high-ranking Russian officials. In March 2017, Navalny and the FBK released the documentary He Is Not Dimon to You, accusing Dmitry Medvedev, the then prime minister and former president of Russia, of corruption, leading to mass protests across the country.>>

Your imagination is running away with you, as I suspect it does with most of the ELSs which you post here. Neither Vladimir Putin nor anyone else instructed me to send you any emails. Disagreeing with NATO policy does not make anyone Fascist. To my knowledge the West's new darling Navalny didn't disagree with Putin on Foreign Policy. Anyway Biden doesn't seem as hawkish as I'd expected.

This is getting off-topic though and really ought to be reported as abuse.

. So you just woke up one day and decided to
. send me anti-NATO screes for the fun of it?

And the next thing I hear is that all your Russky pals were whooping it up after Trump (with Putin's help) suddenly becomes the worst president in the history of my country.

(Fuck Trump, fuck Putin, and fuck all your new Russky pals!!!)

Peter Nockolds:

<<Disagreeing with NATO policy does not make anyone Fascist. To my knowledge the West's new darling Navalny didn't disagree with Putin on Foreign Policy.>>

So shouldn't you be out demonstrating for Navalny's freedom rather than talking to me?

Peter Nockolds:

<<Anyway Biden doesn't seem as hawkish as I'd expected.>>

. Unlike all those lies you hear in Russia
. (and in Russian supported online media)
. Biden is more like Quaker Herbert Hoover:
-------------------------------------------------
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herbert_Hoover#Relief_in_Europe

<<Before serving as president, Herbert Hoover led the Commission for Relief in Belgium, served as the director of the U.S. Food Administration. Despite the opposition of Senator Henry Cabot Lodge and other Republicans, Hoover provided aid to the defeated German nation after the war, as well as relief to famine-stricken Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic. Hoover condemned the Bolsheviks, but warned President Wilson against an intervention in the Russian Civil War, as he viewed the White Russian forces as little better than the Bolsheviks and feared the possibility of a protracted U.S. involvement.

The Russian famine of 1921–22 claimed six million people, but the intervention of the ARA likely saved millions of lives. When asked if he was not helping Bolshevism by providing relief, Hoover stated, "twenty million people are starving. Whatever their politics, they shall be fed!" Reflecting the gratitude of many Europeans, in July 1922, Soviet author Maxim Gorky told Hoover that "your help will enter history as a unique, gigantic achievement, worthy of the greatest glory, which will long remain in the memory of millions of Russians whom you have saved from death".>>
--------------------------------------------------------------

OTOH, your boy, Trump, is more interested in joining hands
with other rich autocrats (like Saudi MBL) to promote famine:
-------------------------------------------------------------
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Famine_in_Yemen_(2016%E2%80%93present)

<<Since 2016, a famine has been ongoing in Yemen which started during the Yemeni Civil War. More than 85,000 children have died as a result of the famine as of 2018. The famine is being compounded by an outbreak of cholera, which is resulting in 5,000 new cases daily in June 2017. Devastation of Yemeni infrastructure, health, water and sanitation systems and facilities by [Trump supported] Saudi-led coalition air strikes led to the spread of cholera. After 5 November 2017, the famine in Yemen was compounded by Houthi humanitarian siege and Saudi Arabia, who tightened its sea, air and land blockade of Yemen. According to the manager of Al Hudaydah port, which is under the control of the Houthis, medicine and food cannot go to Al-Hudaydah, since [Trump supported] Saudi-led airstrikes destroyed the port's industrial cranes in August 2015.

In October 2018, the United Nations warned that 13 million people face starvation in what could be "the worst famine in the world in 100 years." The following month, a report by Save the Children estimated that 85,000 children under the age of five have died from starvation and malnutrition.

The famine has been compared by some commentators to the Holodomor in Soviet Ukraine. The Holodomor (Ukrainian: Голодомо́р; derived from морити голодом, moryty holodom, 'to kill by starvation') was a famine in Soviet Ukraine from 1932 to 1933 that killed millions of Ukrainians. According to the findings of the Court of Appeal of Kyiv in 2010, the demographic losses due to the famine amounted to 10 million, with 3.9 million direct famine deaths, and a further 6.1 million birth deficits.

Scholars believe that the famine was planned by Joseph Stalin to eliminate a Ukrainian independence movement. Holodomor denial is the assertion that the 1932–1933 genocide in Soviet Ukraine either did not occur or did occur but was not a premeditated act. In the Soviet Union, authorities all but banned discussion of the famine, and Ukrainian historian Stanislav Kulchytsky stated the Soviet government ordered him to falsify his findings and depict the famine as an unavoidable natural disaster, to absolve the Communist Party and uphold the legacy of Stalin.>>

I guess no harm in carrying on the discussion. I'd have thought that as far as Foreign Policy goes by most standards George W Bush was worse than Trump.

Biden seemed quite hawkish towards Russia when he was VP now he seems rather a dove. I should think the Russian government are pleased. Trump was friendly towards Russia but there were quite a few hawks in his administration.

I don't know how far Trump can be blamed for what is happening in Isareal/Palestine now, whether the Pax Trumpiana carried the seeds of its own breakdown.

<<I guess no harm in carrying on the discussion.>>

Well...we all seem to have survived this:

Peter Nockolds:

<<I'd have thought that as far as Foreign Policy goes by most standards George W Bush was worse than Trump.>>

Were you even paying attention?

Peter Nockolds:

<<Biden seemed quite hawkish towards Russia when he was VP now he seems rather a dove.>>

According to FOX NEWS, Kamala Harris & AOC are *really* in charge.

Peter Nockolds:

<<I should think the Russian government are pleased.>>

If not they can always try to have "Uncle Joe" assassinated:

Peter Nockolds:

<<Trump was friendly towards Russia but there were quite a few hawks in his administration.>>

Putin probably didn't have Pee Pee tapes on all those hawks.

Peter Nockolds:

<<I don't know how far Trump can be blamed for what is happening in Isareal/Palestine now, whether the Pax Trumpiana carried the seeds of its own breakdown.>>

FOX/POX Trumpiana carried the spores of the world's breakdown.

(Fuck Trump! Fuck Putin! Fuck your Russky pals!)

Why not set up a private blog where you can block my comments? That would give you peace of mind :-)
